The tapping should be done solidly but not forcibly. Remember the objective is to simply stimulate the points to heal the body and not to hurt it. Each point on the body is tapped at least 5 to 7 times or about the length of time it takes for one full breath.
To begin the therapy, it is essential to know the tapping points and their pathway down the body.
Also, it is good to know that traditionally the technique used only the index and middle finger of one hand, but now both hands and all fingers can be used as it allows access more to acupuncture points and can cover larger surface area.
To apply the therapy, knowledge of the correct points is vital. To begin the procedure, the top of the head is tapped first.
Then moving down the head, tap on the start of the eyebrow. Moving around the eye, tap the side of the eye and then underneath the eye in the center. Now tap the point located at under the nose, roughly midway between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip. Finishing up the head, tap on the chin.
Move to the body and tap the collarbone spots. Then finish up by reaching under the arm and tap on the side of the body.
Coupled with this tapping technique always remember to softly or silently say positive affirmations as you move from point to point. For example you may recite "I am always safe' or "I love myself".
These simple phrases become all powerful when tapping on the body's energy centers. There are many books filled with examples of positive affirmations. Choose some that make you feel good and try a round stating that one affirmation as you tap on each point.
