Caffeine is such a controversial topic.  Some people say we should all stop drinking beverages with caffeine in them, while others say that caffeine is really good for us.

The following article discusses some of the beneficial effects that drinking coffee can have on improving your memory and boosting your mental performance.  Should you rely on drinking caffeine to boost your memory?  The effects on each person can be different.

I recently gave up drinking coffee after using it daily for about thirty years.  I discovered after a few weeks that I no longer needed to have coffee in the morning to get me going, because I popped wide awake, with none of that morning grogginess I used to have!

In my own case, I didn’t notice any effect of giving up coffee on my memory.

Do I miss having coffee?  Not a lot.  Now I drink coffee occasionally, but I no longer drink it because I need to.  For many of us, drinking coffee seems to set off a chain of events in the body so that we need to drink more coffee just to keep going, because we can’t relax properly.

If you give up drinking coffee and tea, you may find that you feel better after a few weeks.  You may find as I did, that once you give up coffee, you don’t need it in order to have that boost in the morning, because you wake up in much better shape than you used to.

Researchers are uncovering some health benefits to drinking coffee and tea, both of which contain caffeine.  While both coffee and tea can give your brain and body a mild boost, there are other ways to give your brain a boost, such as getting up and taking a brisk walk for a few minutes.
