Do you often feel as if it's hard for you to concentrate or think straight?  Are you forgetful?  Sometimes people call this condition "brian fog".

Many people have the problem of brain fog, and it's not always easy to solve.  There are a lot of different factors that can affect your ability to think clearly.  To overcome brain fog, you will need to become a detective.

Some of the factors that affect your ability to concentrate are physical and some factors are psychological. If you want to be able to think more clearly and effectively, you’ll have to do some detective work to discover why you are having a hard time thinking.

For example, if you have anemia or if your thyroid gland is underactive, this can make your thinking very sluggish.  So can a lack of sleep or a lack of exercise.  So can a poor diet, or too much stress. Even poor breathing habits or bad oxygen circulation in your environment will make your brain perform poorly.  To overcome brain fog, you may need to attack more than one contributing factor.

If you are going through a very stressful period in your life, you may feel as if your thoughts are going around in circles.  Be sure to eat properly and get plenty of exercise and sleep at this time.  You may also benefit from discussing your problems with someone who can help you see things more clearly.

Quite often, the problem of having a sluggish brain may have more than one cause.  There may be several environmental or lifestyle factors that are contributing to your lack of mental effectiveness.

For example, you may be working in an office that has very poor ventilation, and there may be a build up of toxic chemicals in the atmosphere.

When there are several causes of brain fog, you will need to implement several remedies.  That means you should try improving your diet, getting good sleep, and exercising.  Many people find that regular meditation helps them to clarify their thoughts.  Not all forms of meditation are created equally, some forms may help you far more than others.  It’s important to reduce your stress.

Once you have the basics of a brain healthy lifestyle in place, you can then consider adding supplements to your daily diet.  Start with the basics such as the Vitamin B complex.  Add other supplements gradually so you can monitor your response.

Educate yourself about the supplements you wish to take and don’t get carried away with all the advertising hype.  A supplement that works for someone else may not help you at all.  Each individual is different.

We’re often tempted to pop a pill for every ill, and when it looks like our thinking ability is declining, we want to find an instant remedy. We reach for some magic pills.  But no amount of supplementation will help if there is an underlying cause such as lack of exercise, or too much mental stress.

If you suspect there might be a physical component to your inability to think clearly and concentrate, remember to start with a visit to your doctor to get a thorough check up.
