Why Should You Boost Your Vocabulary?

You have probably heard many times that it's important to have a good vocabulary, but maybe you have never stopped to think why a good vocabulary is a useful thing to have.
Here are some reasons why it’s a good idea to iboost your vocabulary.
When you have a good vocabulary, you sound interesting and smart to others. Having a poor vocabulary will make you seem boring and unintelligent.
Have you ever had to listen to someone who uses a swear word every few seconds in their sentences? These people have never learned enough words to be able to express themselves clearly. When they feel strong emotions, they don’t know how to construct a proper sentence to get across their meaning.
Listening to people who have such a poor command of vocabulary is frustrating. You don’t feel that they are effective communicators. You probably come away from them feeling they are not very smart. Is that the image you want others to have of you? Having a good vocabulary and using it well is one of the easiest ways to subconsciously impress other people.
Why restrict yourself to a few hundred words in English, when the English language has thousands and thousands of words to choose from?
People who have a good vocabulary can be like artists with a choice of many colors to use when they paint a picture. Sure, a picture done in black and white can sometimes be good, but how much more interesting would it be if it were in full color!
Every person who wants to be a good writer or a good speaker will benefit from knowing more words.
You can give more color and shading, as well as more passion to your speaking and your writing, when you have a big vocabulary and you know how to use it effectively.
Knowing more words also expands your ability to understand what others want to communicate to you.
Your ability to learn new concepts and new information will be severely limited if a poor vocabulary is holding you back.
So many jobs today have become knowledge jobs, and blue collar jobs are disappearing. The jobs of the future will belong to those who can communicate most effectively.
