Do you ever feel like you can’t come up with new creative ideas anymore? This feeling that you've lost your creative inspiration is actually very common. Even very creative people can burn out and feel as if they are all out of fresh new ideas. They don’t know how to get inspired again.
When you feel as if you have lost all your creativity, it can become very frustrating. You might even have a sense of panic, wondering whether you will ever get back that creative spark you used to have, where fresh, creative ideas just poured out of you.
The good news is that even if you feel that you have run out of creative ideas, in most cases, the situation is probably just temporary. If you take a few steps to do something different in your life, you may be able to jumpstart your brain with lots of new creative ideas.
If you feel like you have misplaced your creative spark, take a bit of time to examine your current life. Have you been under an unusual amount of stress lately? Have you been working too hard? Are there big problems in your personal life?
Sometimes people stop being creative because they get bored. Maybe they have let themselves live a life that has too much routine and predictability. Perhaps it’s time for a bit of a change.
Very often, people who have temporarily lost their creativity find that they can get rejuvenated if they do something different, something out of their every day routine.
Whenever you need to kickstart your creative rejuvenation, look around for some new sources of inspiration.
Explore some different environments for a time. Can you afford the time and money to visit another country? Travel in new locations often stimulates us to have many new creative ideas.
We can’t all afford the time or money it would take to spend a year backpacking around the world, but quite often we can find new ways to stimulate our brains.
If you can’t afford the time to travel to another country, you may find that even a weekend in a different environment can renew your creative spirit. Why not explore a nearby city, or even a different neighborhood of the city you live in?
Why not take a class in some subject in which you’ve always had an interest?
Whether it’s an afternoon in a different neighborhood, or a year spent in another country, you’ll get more out of your experience if you let yourself be open to it with all your senses and adopt a fresh, open mind.
Here are some more ideas for you that can help you renew yourself and spark those creative juices:
- Go to the library and look at some picture books of other countries
- Explore some new museums and galleries
- Go on a walking tour in a new neighborhood
- Take photographs
- Start keeping a notebook or a sketch book
- Seek out some positive, creative people who will inspire you
Stop focusing on how you’ve lost your creativity, and find something else to focus on instead. Very often, a change of scenery, or a change of activity can be enough to start those creative juices flowing again.
